I'm Jaylen Williams, a passionate game developer with a love for creating immersive experiences. Games have shaped my life since childhood, starting with Super Mario 64 DS, and now I'm pursuing my dream of creating my own games.
I'm currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a minor in Technology Innovation Leadership at the University of Maryland, College Park. I specialize in Unity and C# development, I will eventually gain experience in Unreal Engine 5. As an officer in the UMD Game Developers Club, I collaborate with other students to share knowledge and learn from one another.
My areas of focus include game design, level design, combat design, and world building. I'm always seeking new challenges to grow as a developer and create memorable gaming experiences.

I finally understood the importance of iteration and polish in game development. Learned how refinement of core mechanics—particularly collision systems and visual feedback can enhance player satisfaction. Developed stronger time management skills working within strict 48-hour constraints.
Gained valuable experience transitioning between game genres. Learned to implement FPS mechanics including camera control, shooting systems, and enemy AI under extreme time pressure. This project proved I could successfully execute ideas outside my comfort zone.
My introduction to rapid game development and working under pressure. Learned essential game jam skills: scope management, prioritizing core gameplay, and delivering a complete experience in 24 hours. This project gave me confidence to tackle more game jam projects in the future.
Games have been a part of my life since I was a child, and I have always dreamed of creating my own games. The first game I ever played was Super Mario 64 DS, and it sparked my love for gaming. I remember spending hours exploring the Mushroom Kingdom, jumping, and stomping goombas. I loved the sense of adventure and discovery that the game offered. I was fascinated by how the game was made and how it created such an immersive experience.
As I grew up, I started to explore more games and genres. I played everything from platformers to RPGs, and I was always amazed by the creativity and innovation in game design. I remember playing games like Red Dead Redemption and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which had rich worlds and incredibly fun gameplay. I was particularly drawn to the storytelling and world-building aspects of these games. These games influenced my passion for game design and development.
I began my development journey in 2019 watching tutorials and building small demos with Unity. I would use basic cubes to play around and prototype. My first actual experience with projects was in my Intro to Interactive Media class where I had to build a few projects using Scratch. I currently have experience in Unity and C#, and I will begin exploring Unreal Engine 5. I'm also an officer in the UMD Game Developers Club, where I collaborate with other students and continue to grow. I am always looking to learn new things and improve my skills in game development.
I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Information Science with a minor in Technology Innovation Leadership from the University of Maryland, College Park. This has given me a solid foundation in technology and problem-solving. I also gained an analytical mindset through my coursework, which I apply to my game development projects.
I have a strong interest in game design, level design, combat design, and world building. I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow as a game developer. I am currently working on more projects that showcase my skills and creativity in game design and development.
In my free time, I enjoy playing games, reading and watching videos about game design, and exploring new technologies.
